DeepClass.org is officially soliciting local partners for its new Field Testing Grant initiative, an opportunity designed to bring cutting-edge educational technology directly into primary and secondary learning environments. As part of our ongoing mission to transform how students engage with history, this grant provides local schools, educators, and educational organizations with full access to our platform. By partnering with active classrooms, DeepClass.org aims to evaluate, refine, and measure the impact of artificial intelligence when applied to humanities and social studies curricula.
At the core of DeepClass.org’s mission is the belief that history should not be a static subject "carved in granite," but an active, dynamic conversation. To achieve this, our team has developed specialized AI models—specifically Large Language Models (LLMs)—trained on vast archives of authentic historical writings. By ingesting thousands of letters, speeches, essays, and biographical facts, these models capture the distinct mannerisms, verbal quirks, and intellectual styles of key historical figures, allowing students to hold real-time, interactive discussions with personalities from the past.
Through this grant program, participating local partners will gain hands-on access to interactive historical figures such as Frederick Douglass, Teddy Roosevelt, and many others. Rather than passively reading textbook summaries, students in participating classrooms can ask tailored questions to understand pivotal decisions, such as querying Douglass on his journey north or asking Roosevelt about the engineering and politics behind the Panama Canal. This conversational approach turns routine history lessons into inquiry-driven explorations guided by student curiosity.
Beyond examining historical events, the DeepClass.org platform encourages students to explore counterfactuals and modern perspectives by asking historical figures about contemporary topics. Classes can challenge these AI personas with questions about modern technology, space flight, or current societal shifts, prompting the models to respond using the foundational philosophy and worldview of the historical figure. This unique capability fosters higher-order critical thinking, as students analyze how historical figures might process concepts that did not exist during their lifetimes.
The Field Testing Grant is specifically designed to support educators in integrating these tools seamlessly into their existing lesson plans and classroom routines. Teachers do not need advanced technical expertise to participate; instead, the platform is built for flexibility, enabling whole-class discussions, group research projects, or individual student inquiries. Because the AI generates unique, dynamic responses rather than canned answers, educators can use the platform to drive fresh, spontaneous dialogue in every class period.
Local partners selected for the Field Testing Grant will receive prepaid platform access with up to $38,000 work of GPU time and token spend, dedicated onboarding assistance, and tailored instructional support. In exchange, participating schools and educators will provide valuable feedback regarding classroom implementation, student engagement levels, and instructional effectiveness. This collaboration ensures that future iterations of the technology directly address the real-world needs, opportunities, and constraints of modern educators.
Each recipient must be prepared to answer four feedback surveys that should each require 15 minutes of time.
DeepClass.org invites local educational institutions, school districts, independent schools, and community learning centers to apply for partnership. We are seeking enthusiastic educators who are eager to test innovative digital tools, enrich their social studies instruction, and help shape the future of AI-driven humanities education.
Interested organizations can review the program requirements and submit their application directly through the official application form at deepclass.org/form/field-test.
By bridging historical primary sources with modern artificial intelligence, DeepClass.org is committed to making history tangible, conversational, and memorable for the next generation of learners. We look forward to collaborating with forward-thinking local partners who share our passion for bringing the past back to life in the classroom.
